alright, well i think now is as appropriate a time as any. i'm no longer going to be posting in this journal. two years and a lot of lessons learned, i'd like to leave all of this stuff where it belongs.

from now on i'll be posting at:

i'm not going to copy my friendslist, so just head over there and comment if you want to keep reading my stuff. i also just posted pics and my review of the oasis concert on the new journal for your viewing pleasure.

done! [24 Jun 2005|11:43am]
[ mood | content ]

hopefully today was my last day of working at the bakery.
should be getting a call from rl lipton the beginning of next week.

i don't think i've had a rant in a few years, so here you go.

the following is addressed to girls my age:

you are not as interesting as you think you are, nor do you have good music taste like you think you have. listening to bob dylan greatest hits as well as quoting pretentious pseudo-arthouse movies and or music does not make you "cool" or interesting. accept the fact that you're boring, and stop being frauds. it would be the first genuine thing you've done in a long time.

with that, i'm off to philadelphia.

walk on [31 May 2005|01:50pm]
[ mood | good ]

so, i've had the new oasis album for a while, but it was finally released today! do i wish i would have held off? no way. the thought of their being new songs out there that i haven't heard is far worse than the feeling of debating whether or not i should wait to listen.

i will say that while i like the past two albums, they are hit and miss and somewhat uninspired - especially heathen chemistry. don't believe the truth is consistently great from beginning to end. it sounds passionate, something that the last album didn't. the fact that they are playing 8 of the 11 of these live makes me incredibly happy because they are all great.

bring on june 25th.

lift me up and take me where i stand [17 Apr 2005|05:24pm]
here, for your viewing pleasure is the new Oasis video, Lyla.  after about three listens i decided it was one of the catchiest songs i've ever heard, and it is supposedly only the 6th best song on the record.  this can only mean good things..

Lyla : video

i tried uploading it in digital quality, but the file size was too big.  still, pretty good.  really cool colors in the video..when it changes from black and white is really great stuff.  but i am biased.

opinions?

you should follow me down [24 Dec 2004|06:32pm]
[ mood | hopeful ]

the new doves single is, in my opinion, an example of exactly what music is lacking nowadays.

how many modern alternative rock bands are going to come out with the same four chords and the same uninspired verse/chorus? if i hear dare you to move by switchfoot (a prime example of this) one more time, i think i'm going to cry.  i don't judge people based on music, as hard as that is. that would be morally incorrect. i realize that everyone has different prefrences, but i don't see how anyone can be emotionally affected by music like this.  i don't mean to single out switchfoot, as there are a thousand other bands whose music i could never take seriously for said reasons.

listen to black and white town by doves here (bottom)

now doesn't that feel good?

nice try puff daddy [04 Nov 2004|03:36pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

i was not a john kerry supporter, but along with most people, supported him because he was not george bush. i personally believe george bush makes a mockery of the principles our country was founded on. life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. every man is created equal. to me, it comes down to a question of character, and george bush is seriously lacking in my eyes. apparently, not every man is created equal, particularly not in ohio.

i don't understand how someone can be pro-life, and yet knowingly send living people into war - to die! i'm pro-life in the sense that i'm concerned with people who are alive. living. i am not in favor of war and especially not the killing of innocent people, american or not.

i believe a leader has to be able to represent a diverse spectrum of people and their interests. george bush represents his view, not the view of the majority of americans. granted, we reelected him. but by looking at the numbers, it's certainly not something we did united as a group. we are split in half. our leader represents one side and ignores the other.

i hear there is a year long wait to become a canadian citizen.

--
*edit respect that this is my opinion. i'm not passing judgement on anyone, simply stating my views. i don't believe there is a right or wrong with politics when it comes to peoples' opinions. i do, however, believe that Bush is wrong in his logic and actions. i'm allowed to be unsatisfied and am thankful that my country gives me the right to be unsatsified. though, i'm still unsatisfied with my unsatisfaction. ;)

end of august [14 Aug 2004|09:22pm]
[ mood | weird ]

i haven't written a public entry in a while, and i'm feeling a little risky so why not..

it's been an interesting week for me.. some of my family came down from new york to see our show at party on the plaza. it was a good time, yet for some reason a little disapointing. we basically played to some family and friends..although not as many showed up as i originally was anticipating. granted, we had the early slot and weren't expecting much, but it still. we had a good time none the less. i can understand the fact that kids our age might not get us..but we got a lot of comparisons to the greatful dead, neil young, the band, that were all welcome compliments. kids in boardman will never go see one of their own bands play, anthony pointed out to me. my family was great though. my brother came with all of his friends, who all really enjoyed the show. all the good feedback afterwards never hurts either..plus $250!
--

there are more to post in about a week or so. one more - where am i staring? )

in relation to everything going on..i feel like something inside of me has changed. i don't feel the same. i always have considered myself very emotionally stable.. but questioning something like the future of your relationships with people, doesn't help that. everything must go ) overall though, i have a lot to be thankful for. i just need to realize that everytime i have one of these questionable phases. i feel pretty good though, don't let that sidetrack make you think otherwise. optimism works like that.

an album that i've really been getting into lately is Think Tank by Blur.  i'm addicted to it.  so different from everything else, not to mention insanely relaxing.  my favorites are Caravan, Good Song, Sweet Song, and Gene By Gene.  it's so versitile and broadspanning  i usually put it on before i go to bed, and yet you could drive to it and it'd keep you rockin' just the same.  i do kind of miss Graham Coxon's guitar playing though. opinions, anyone?

also, this is the funniest picture i've ever seen.
